Garden Terrace Renovation
March 2021 - present
Garden Terrace is an out building on the Newfields grounds that was originally built as a recreation space for the Lilly Family in the 1940s. The building has been used for various purposes since the Lilly Estate was donated to the Indianapolis Museum of Art in the early 1970s. However; for the past few decade or so the buliding has gone mostly unused. The space recently got a renovation that allowed it to be added to the museum’s options of rentable spaces. The space can comfortably fit up to 50 for either formal dining, meetings, or cocktail parties.
In an attempt to honor the building’s original, recreation, function a “sport” theme was decided upon for the interior spaces. Finishes were selected with a “club” feel in mind. Antique sporting goods as well as historic sport themed photos from the immediate Indianpolis area were used to amplify this feeling and lend an element of authenticity and educational value in keeping with the museum’s brand.
I worked on FF&E selection for this project as well as space planning for various event types. I also ordered all furniture and custom draperies as well as coordinated installation or all elements.
